Here is a Christmas gift for my wife. I made her this Mongol bow and turkey fletched fir arrows.
This bow starts with a laminated core of red elm and tempered bamboo. It is glued between clear glass, and then hickory static ears are spliced onto the limbs. The pointed tips are purple heart and the string bridges are king wood. The bow is 54" in length and pulls 40lbs. at 28" of draw. I gave the riser a small setback and reflexed the limbs only slightly, in order to give her a bow with lower string wt. initially and increasing steadily and smoothly. The arrows are matched to the bow for spine and shoot very fast and quietly.Even with her shorter draw, the arrows flew quite flat and the target shows where the first and second arrows went. Her words were"This is love at first flight."
